While being in Muscat for Christmas with some friends I was visiting some nice new places.
The centre for Islamic Studies in Sultan Qaboos mosque was one of them. I came across this place while searching for a Quran that was actually printed in Oman. The ladies who were welcoming us have been very nice and supporting but unfortunately I had to leave Muscat without a Omani Quran. This week I have to call the centre again and maybe they have found one until then.

Another nice place was Bait Muzna Gallery that is just opposite of the Bait Zubair Museum. Unfortunately I do not have the money to buy any of their beautiful art pieces but I was very impressed with what they were exhibiting. For a second I was thinking about investing into a calligraphy piece by Abdul Nasser Al-Saigh worth more than one month rent of last apartment in Oslo.
The pictures of his calligraphy did not turn out good so I post this masque instead.

Unfortunately I do not remember who made this maques but I really like them.

For Christmas Eve we went to a nice Omani Restaurant and for Christmas morning we had breakfast at the al-Bustan hotel. Both times it was delicious but the breakfast was more suitable for me as a vegetarian.

On our stroll through the Souk in Mutrah I discovered a “Pickelhaube” which looked like it was in the country since the times of Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia. The owner of the shop was insisting on his story which said that the item was made by a local jewellery maker.

Even if it did not felled like Christmas I had a good time.

This is my most favorite Khaleeji cartoon. I am on my way to buy all the seasons. it is about four Khaleeji women who meet every day for coffee. It seems like a lot of cultural and social ideas are summed up in a humorous way.

I got into the rain today and enjoyed. It is still warm enough to enjoy the rain. I wonder how cold it will get…
